Director of Digital Media UCR ARTSblock 2007-2012
UCRARTSblock Events 2003-2012
As the inaugural Director of Digital Media for the University of California, Riverside ARTSblock, I was intricately involved in orchestrating and overseeing events photography and video production. This multifaceted role required a comprehensive skill set, blending creative vision, effective organizational skills, and technical expertise to capture and showcase the dynamic arts and cultural events hosted within our arts center. I pioneered the creation of a documentary group within UCR ARTSblock, dedicated to capturing exhibitions, educational programming, performances, and talks. In response to the rise of social media, we harnessed the continuous stream of content produced by our arts organization, disseminating it across various platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and more.
My responsibilities extend to both the strategic and hands-on aspects of events photography. I collaborated closely with artists, curators, and event organizers to understand the essence and objectives of each occasion. Through meticulous planning and coordination of students and staff, I ensured that the visual narrative aligned seamlessly with the overarching goals of the event. Whether it be a gallery opening at the UCR/California Museum of Photography, an exhibition at the UCR Sweeney Art Gallery, or a cultural performance at the Culver Center for the Arts, I strived to translate the unique atmosphere and artistic expressions into compelling visual stories.

As a video production specialist, I played a pivotal role in crafting immersive narratives that go beyond still images. Through dynamic videography, I capture the essence of each event, bringing it to life for a broader audience. This involved not only recording the main highlights. but also incorporating interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and ambient sounds to create a comprehensive and engaging visual experience. The goal was to convey the richness of the ARTSblock events, making them accessible to a wider audience and leaving a lasting impression.
In addition to the creative aspect, I managed the logistical and technical facets of the digital media department. This included overseeing equipment, coordinating with a team of photographers and videographers, and ensuring the seamless execution of all digital media initiatives. I work closely with marketing and communications teams to leverage the captured content for promotional purposes, contributing to the visibility and success of future events.
In essence, my role as the Director of Digital Media was not only about documenting events but also about curating a visual narrative that reflect the vibrancy and cultural significance of the University of California, Riverside ARTSblock. Through the lens of digital media, I was able to elevate the institution's profile, amplify its impact, and provide a compelling window into the diverse and dynamic world of arts and culture within our community.
